Community calendar of upcoming events
This is a calendar updated daily of upcoming local events during the coming days provided by the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council, and other contributors. Submissions for events can be sent to [email protected]. They should include the date, time, location, short summary of the event, a website and/or social media page for the event if applicable, if an admission fee is required, and a contact for people to obtain more information. Submissions are not guaranteed of inclusion and may be edited for length or content. The calendar is also published in the print editions of the Juneau Empire, and submissions for those should be received by 9 a.m. Monday for Wednesday’s paper and 9 a.m. Thursday for Saturday’s paper.
THURSDAY, NOV. 2
Write a Letter of Gratitude in Honor of the Late Dr. Walter Soboleff, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., Juneau-Douglas City Museum, 114 W. 4th St.
Nov. 14 is Dr. Walter Soboleff Day. During the month of November, the Juneau- Douglas City Museum will provide a free note card, U.S. postage, and an insert honoring the late Dr. Walter Soboleff to individuals interested in writing letters of encouragement and gratitude. Note cards, inserts and stamps may be picked up at the museum between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays in November. As an additional complimentary service the museum will mail completed cards. Larger groups may request in advance cards and inserts to be picked up at the City Museum. Weaving Our Pride is a collaborative youth-mentor weaving project. Youth 12+ of all identities are invited to come learn how to weave and participate in creating a Ravenstail and Chilkat ceremonial robe in Pride colors. Energy Healing w/RN and holistic nurse Mary Sczepanski, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Thunder Mountain High School, 3101 Diamond Pk. Lp.
Four-week course presents information about the human energy field, chakras, and meridians; and how they can cleared and balanced for healing. Participants will learn and briefly practice several basic energy healing techniques from healing touch, meditation, intention, distance healing, guided imagery, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). These methods can be applied to decrease pain, stress, anxiety, insomnia, and symptoms of illness; as well as helping release addictions and physical and emotional trauma.
