Aiken County school on lockdown after deputies announce manhunt in the area

Horse Creek Academy in under a soft lockdown as the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office searches for a suspect in the area.

“The safety of our students is our top priority and we are taking necessary precautions,” the school wrote in a post on social media.

Students will remain in the building until the lockdown is lifted, according to school officials.

The school said tardy students should not use the car line; parents should park and walk students directly into the building.
