MCHS band fares well at Tyrone competition

LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County High School Marching Band traveled to Gray Veterans Memorial Field in Tyrone Saturday for the Tyrone Golden Eagle Tournament of Bands competition.

Mifflin County finished first in Group 3-Open Class with a score of 84.50. Penn-Trafford High School, Harrison City, finished second with a score of 81.50.
The Mifflin County High School band also won the Specialty Award for Best Drum Line.

Mifflin County’s score puts them in third place Overall in Tournament of the Bands’ Group 3-Open Class behind Liberty High School, (Cumberland, MD-86.70) and Musselman High School, (Inwood, WV-85.10).
Band director Art Belfiore said the band had, “…a great weekend. Friday night was Homecoming and we had the largest alumni band ever. Follow that with the performance in Tyrone and it was a weekend to remember.”

The band’s next competition will be at North Schuylkill High School in Ashland, Saturday, Oct. 14.
