Electronic Form I-9 Information
The Federal Form I-9 is now being processed electronically for employees of the University of Wyoming via our vendor, Sterling Talent Solutions. We want you to have an easy reference guide at your fingertips and be aware of all the tools provided to ensure compliance with the Federal Government.
The Form I-9 is a Federal document that all employees must complete to determine an employee’s eligibility to work and consists of TWO parts:
Section 1 is required to be filled out ON or BEFORE the 1st day of work and can be done electronically from any device connected to Internet;
Section 2 requires the employee to bring acceptable documents directly to Human Resources, located on the 3rd floor of Hill Hall, for review and to complete the Form I-9.
Employees who fail to complete the Form I-9 within the appropriate time frames are asked to cease work until they are able to comply.
Notification to Complete Form I-9
New employees will receive an email from Sterling Talent Solutions to complete section 1 of an electronic Form I-9. The email will be delivered to the email account used when applying for a position at UW. Call 766-2377 if email is accidentally deleted. Employee may either complete section 1 of the Form I-9 and then report to our HR offices to complete section 2; OR, the employee can come directly to HR after an official offer is received and accepted to complete the Form I-9 (section 1 and section 2).
When to Complete Form I-9The Form I-9 MUST be started (section 1) no later than the employee’s first day of work, and completed (section 2) no later than three business days following their first day of work. Human Resources must have the employee’s offer letter and offer acceptance indicated in our hiring system to complete the Form I-9 (section 1 and section 2).
