It tells the story of Collette, headmistress of an exclusive arts school in upstate New York. METSA/SHEFCHIK: Sign copies of their book “Blood in the Tracks: The Minnesota Musicians behind “Dylan’s Masterpiece,” the story of two nights in Minneapolis when six Minnesota musicians participated in a recording session with Minnesota native Bob Dylan as he re-recorded five songs on “Blood on the Tracks,” bringing their unique sound to some of Dylan’s best-known songs. Much of what they recorded in two spontaneous nights would end up as the takes on the final album, but for more than 40 years their contributions went unacknowledged. Paul Metsa and Rick Shefchik honor the lives of drummer Bill Berg, bassist Billy Peterson, keyboardist Gregg Inhofer, guitar players Chris Weber and Kevin Odegard, and mandolin player Peter Ostroushko. With special guests Sonny Earl and Gregg Inhofer. MINNESOTA MYSTERY NIGHT: Hosts Priscilla Paton, holder of a doctoral degree, social advocate, and author of the Twin Cities Mystery series, is in conversation with Jessie Chandler, former police officer, bookstore manager and author of humorous crime fiction, including the Shay O’Hanlon Caper series. Paton’s most recent mystery, “When the House Burns,” fourth in the Twin Cities Mystery Series, finds Det. Erik Jansson and Deb Metzger hunting for the killer of a real estate agent. Chandler is champion of the new trend of bold lesbian mysteries. Author of seven award-winning books, including “Pickle in the Middle Murder,” her most recent, “Quest for Redemption,” is first in a new series. 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, Axel’s Restaurant, 1318 Sibley Memorial Highway, Mendota.
